Mixed Media: Dry and Wet

This class is intended to be at the intermediate level, but advanced and Professional artists are welcome. Participants will

explore non-traditional ways of using pastel washes, ‘quick paints’, where a palette is not necessary and the technique can be

used a la plein air for instance. You will be encouraged to experiment with pastel washes using colorful, organic forms as a visual reference. Explore the layering of pastels and thinly applied acrylics, alternately

wet and dry. Ultimately, create afinished mixed media painting. Participants may bring their own small still-lifes if they desire.

Fee for this 4 week class is $60 for Suntan

members, $70 non-members

Materials list:

Nu-Pastels - compressed pastels

(less likely to crumble)

Conte Pastel Pencils- medium blue / brown

Cold press watercolor paper – medium

size, at least 5 sheets

Flat fi ne-haired brush – medium (synthetic

or natural)

Round fi ne-haired brush – small (synthetic or")

Pastel blender (Q-tips also will work)
